Greece, like most countries in the South Eastern corner of Europe, was occupied by the Osmania Empire for about 500 year. Greece was under Osmania rule from 1453 till 1821. The start of the Greece Revolution and the fight for independence started on March 25th.

Tourism in Greece

In 2018 / 19 tourism accounted for about 30% of the GDP and 17% of the jobs in Greece. In 2018 the country had about 33 million visitors. The biggest contingents came from North Macedonia, UK and Germany; each country contributed with about 10% of the visitors.

Greece has a lot to offer for travelers and the cost / performance ratio is excellent.

This year, at least the early summer season is lost. We can only hope that the drastic corona measures taken in Europe will save the late summer season.
